Thermal performance, safety requirements, and aesthetic preferences can influence the type of glass used in IGUs.

Blackline Aluminum’s IGU (Insulated Glass Units) production specifications are typically considered:

Glass Thickness:

The thickness of the glass panes used in IGUs is determined based on factors such as the size of the unit, structural requirements, and energy efficiency goals.

The typical Blackline Aluminum glass thickness range is 6 mm.

Spacer Size:

The spacer size is chosen based on factors such as the desired insulation performance and structural requirements. Common spacer sizes range from 9.5 mm, 12.5 mm, and 14.5 mm or more. The regular size of Blackline Aluminum is 12.5 mm.

Insulating Gas:

Commonly, Blackline Aluminum uses argon gas. Cost, energy efficiency goals, and local building codes all play a role in choosing the insulating gas.

U-Value and Energy Efficiency:

The U-value of blackline aluminum glass production indicates how well it insulates. Lower U-values indicate better insulation, while higher U-values indicate fast heat transfer. The U-value of IGUs can be adjusted to meet specific building energy efficiency requirements.

Safety and Security Options:

Blackline Aluminum’s IGUs can incorporate additional safety and security features depending on the application. Enhanced security can be achieved with tempered glass or special interlayers.
